'Hypnotic Dirge Records' Free Downloads 

The Downloads section on the website is meant to showcase certain releases by the Hypnotic Dirge Records Artists that will in most cases not be released as a physical entity. Some examples of this are original demos, downloadable EP's, and our annual HDR download compilation. 

From time to time, I will also feature some outside projects' albums for free download, mostly from friends of mine or associates of Hypnotic Dirge Records. All of these albums are featured here with the artists permission.

In the words of 'Chathuranga Forseka' (Funeral in Heaven), "Unauthorized copying, reproduction, hiring, lending, sharing and broadcasting is highly encouraged and valued" We also follow this philosophy for our digital releases! Spread this music far and wide.

This compilation album has been created for the purpose of celebrating the one-year aniversery of 'Hypnotic Dirge Records.' It serves as the first complete audio representation of the lable as a whole featuring a track from each of the Hypnotic Dirge Artists. Over the past year, Hypnotic Dirge Records has grown a great deal, gained exposure and respect from fans of the music, artists, record lables, and publishers/promoters alike, and we continue to aim to spread the name of Hypnotic Dirge and its artists around the world. Since its inception in October 2008, HDR has also made a few changes and expanded its artist roster to form the most solid and varied lineup possible. All of the Hypnotic Dirge Artists has something different to offer musically and artistically whildst all keeping within the standards of the HDR vision. It is my utmost pleasure to be able to offer this free compilation album both as a special 'thank you' to supporters of Hypnotic Dirge, to offer previews of upcoming releases as well as previously released tracks, and to be able to introduce the sound and vision of Hypnotic Dirge and its artists to new listeners around the world!

Thank you all for your support, encouragement, and kind words over the past 12 months and be prepared for some more fantastic releases over the next upcoming 12 months.

***"Risen Tide" is a special audial documentation of a memory I had of last summer.

I took a trip to a local coastal region and perched myself atop some rocks protruding from the ocean waters. I began to simply sit still and feel what I could feel, and experience whatever I could experience. There was a full moon above me, and the waters were very still.Eventually I began to feel something strange. I felt as if I was, for the time being, feeling my surroundings be drawn by the power of the moon above me. Not in a sense of new-age doctrine or anything of the sort, but simply as a natural phenomena that has been occurring almost unnoticeably to humans for the entire duration of the earth's existence.

This long track is simply a remembrance and a re-incovation of what was felt during this experience. Much can be learned about the ways of our universe by simply giving oneself up to observing. It also teaches the complexity of the universe, and regresses the idea that it is all simply borne of an accident...

"In the distant horizons of antiquity, Sri Lanka was an Island kissed by nature, blessed by gods, haunted be demons, gripped by mysteries and ruled by occultism. There could not have been any other people so preoccupied than Sri Lankans in the bewildering world of sorcery, cult practices, occult art, magic, necromancy, theurgy, thaumatury, demonology, bedevilment, witchcraft, exorcism, enchantment, mysticism, clairvoyance, spiritualism, table-turning, thought reading, charms, spells, spirit manifestations, capuism and grahaism.

In other countries, rituals and magical arts might have exercised sometimes considerable influence and even commanded many devoted votaries, but in Sri Lanka they were - and are - molded into a regular religion, arranged and methodized into an elaborate system, and even carefully preserved in writing through the ages.

Funeral In Heaven, is nothing more than a congregation of a few concerned and ardent individuals belonging to one of the few and remaining cautiously orchestrated systems of preservation of the dark arts of Sri Lanka.

Shanthikarma (translation: healing ceremonies) is a collection of recorded audio tracks of a live ritual performance by FUNERAL IN HEAVEN, at Rise and Assault (March 28th, 2010), which we are offering as a free download EP as a humble gesture of gratitude to all our comrades.
