Immundus signs deal with Quartier 23

Immundus has signed a deal with the Ambient/Experimental label Quartier 23 , and has thus left Hypnotic Dirge Records. I would like to thank Bruno Duarte - solo member of the project Immundus and a founding member of the original Hypnotic Dirge lineup for his cooperation and partnership over the past 18 months. We have successfully released the acclaimed "Haunted Memories" album together which was the first pro-CD Digipack release on HDR back in April 2009, as well as two digital albums since he joined the label. There were/are no hostilities between us whatsoever, and I wish him the best of luck with the next chapter in his project, and hopefully Quartier 23 is the right label for Immundus to present his haunting soundscapes on a label a little more suited to his style! We remain good friends through all this, and it will not affect us personally, after all...it is only music! We will continue to follow his developments and would gladly distribute his forthcoming full-length album in 2011.

Now, for a bit of a general statement about the state of Hypnotic Dirge Records - some of you may be a little bit alarmed about our slow release schedule through the first half of 2010, but rest assured that the second half of 2010 is shaping up to be extremely busy! We have some fantastic releases planned for the next 6-9 months, and my financial situation seems to have gotten to the point where I can release new material at a regular pace once again. Throughout the long history of a label, there is bound to be some personnel changes due to projects leaving, projects being kicked off, and projects being put to rest, but through all this, Hypnotic Dirge Records will continue on, and progress as it sees fit. Our next release kicking off the start of an extremely busy and proporous second half of 2010 will be the new Exiled From Light album 'There is no beauty left here...' released as a double-album on Pro-CD which you can now pre-order HERE!

Reviews of the 'Poemia' Free Download Single Release

From the opening notes of 'Poemia', Immundus once again underlines that his music defines the dark ambient genre, delineating his ability to hold an audience and translate solitude into a melodic design.

'Poemia' is a three single album based on the literary works of Edgar Allan Poe, and is the fourth auditory vision from the Norwegian ambient artist.

'Poemia' is a work that holds one concept, and thus its progressions seem to be a larger depiction rather than three divided pieces. They all intertwine and evolve from one-another; this album is meant to be listened to from its beginning to end - like a long, intriguing literary piece that one cannot put down.

From the opening motifs of the first track – 'The Sleeper' - an intricate atmosphere builds to enrapture its audience. With a slow build up of soft dynamics, there is a constant ambiance underlined by melodious and yet almost spontaneous accents. 'The Sleeper' takes you into solitude that Immundus has perfectly defined throughout his career, knowing exactly how to capture a personal space, and in this case an album that musically represents the melancholy of the writings of Edgar Allan Poe.

'Alone' is an unambiguous progression from the first piece, bringing forth soft and yet powerful undertones of synth, concurring with sounds that capture a feeling of an unknown and yet intriguing quality. The title seems to be a contrast to the emotions created, as the polyrhythmic quality casts a feeling of another entity around you, as well the essence of not knowing what is going to happen next.

The crescendo of 'Poemia' truly identifies this. The final piece - 'Spirits of the Dead' - is the summation of the aforementioned feelings and emotions, translated by possessing music that expresses a melancholy and tonality that continues to linger in ones mind after the conclusion of the album. This track is the strongest portion of the album, being the only one that has a true path within its evolution.

The juxtaposition of the high toned synth with a yielding, lower end main motif, for me personally does reflect the emotions achieved through Poe’s work, as there is always a hidden sorrow, something that perhaps the audience does not see, until being enclosed by Immundus’ music, and finding a place within ourselves to explore with a magnificently haunting soundtrack. As 'Spirits of the Dead' withers away, the void lingers for some moments on.

Immundus, a dark ambient artist from Portugal/Norway, released a single album called Poemia.

The main inspiration behind this album is the infamous Edgar A. Poe and his literary. The single album consist of three songs:

1. The Sleeper

2. Alone

3. Spirits of the Dead

The album is available for download at the website at the end of this review. This is some really dark ambient music and I really dig it a lot. Very creepy and desolate. It's best to be listened while you're alone and in a dark room to really let the atmosphere impact you the way it's meant to be. The guy is definitely very talented and he released many albums before this single album.

One thing that would've been cool is if he made this into a concept album. At first I was pretty hesitant when I heard it's inspired by Poe's writings since that's been done many times in past but I do like this perspective on the writings and focus more on the atmosphere that Poe pulled really well in his writings. If you pay attention to his writings, it's all about what's happening around the character. Same concept applies to this album which is what I really enjoyed.

This guy really get what Poe's works was all about.

Recommended for anyone who dig horror related music or ambient genre.

Best Song:Spirits of the Dead-my favorite and I can not stop listening to this song. Absolutely dark and beautiful.

Worst Song: Alone- still great song but I tend to listen to Spirits of the Dead much more often.

Interview with Matt Coughlin

With the rise of black metal in the underground music industry we find many garage and bedroom bands on the rise that don’t hold up to the mastery of the pioneers in the genre. Even more so, as Varg Vikernes, the father of atmospheric black metal delved into the realms of the dark ambient genre, it created the pathway for unfortunately even more bedroom solo artists. With the thousands of acts releasing demos it seems more challenging for a music collector to find many prominent musicians without first having to listen through a lot of diamondless rough.

Fortunate for me I found a more inspired ambient artist in Bruno Duarte, the solo member of Immundus, a horror inspired act who reminds me of a cross between Brian Eno and Aghast, and while I must say the music isn’t my particular cup of tea as far as casual listening is concerned, I cannot deny the great artistic credibility each piece I have heard has to offer. It’s one of those acts that you find that is a true gem, yet seems special as you listen on occasion when the mood is just right. Recently I got to speak with Bruno to talk about his inspiration behind Immundus and what is in store for its future.

Underground Violence: First, let me say that I am honored to be able to interview an artist who has already had such a positive feedback in the press.

Bruno: The honor is mine.

UV: Upon researching your website www.immundus.net I noticed that you didn't start playing music until your mid teens. Could you let us know about your early musical history and what made you decide to pursue music?

B: Well, it all started after I bought my first instrument, it being a bass, after that, some friends and I decided to create a black metal band and well, evolution and progress took place since then. I played in different bands and projects a long time within the extreme music genres until me and two friends decided to found Necrokult of Kronos, a death metal band with black metal elements on which I was the bass player and vocalist, this one being the most accomplished to date. We released a demo (in conditions) and a full-length album.

After I moved to Norway in 2003 the band split up, and I decided it was about time to start something on my own, that I had in mind from some years back, and so Immundus, my ambient project finally saw the light of day coming in late 2006. It was atmospheric music focusing on haunting and ghostly soundscapes, based on my own concepts with influences of one of the subjects and matters in life that I find most interesting, “the other side."

UV: As I mentioned with the feedback you seem to have a fairly strong support in the independent music scene. Did you see yourself getting this far when you began writing for Immundus?

B: Well I do tend to aim a bit too high in my life goals, short term speaking I mean, some times, but to be honest when I first started to write for Immundus, I began writing for myself and decided to put some songs up on Myspace to share with some people. The feedback has been great since then. I guess it did escalated on a very fast tempo, so I’m positively surprised about it all and really pleased that so many relate to it and have been so supportive this far.

UV: With previous releases you seemed to have taken a conceptual approach to albums; themes in the past including the paranormal and mental institutes. Could you tell us what else seems to inspire you thematically and how you feel your music expresses these contents?

B: I really get most inspired by the moods that occur in our everyday lives. You know, when you’re all alone enjoying being by yourself, and at the same time absorbing all that goes on around you. Many people nowadays, in this stressful world don't have the time to sit back and relax, so I try to get my inspirations when I get those moments. I like to base my concepts on the paranormal and other subjects related to it.

The afterlife is something that I always had much interest in so I think it would make sense to create stories based on these themes, with a blend of suspense, horror and fiction sometimes taken from movies that I tend to watch on TV, DVD, etc.

UV: What would you say are your biggest influences musically speaking for Immundus along with your musically career in general?

B: Musically, I get inspired by many different artists, such as Lustmord, Midnight Syndicate, Vond, Mortiis, Northaunt, Nagual Art and Ulver among many other artists; too many to mention.

UV: Are there other genres of music you, while not fully being inspired by for your own compositions, tend to enjoy as well?

B: Yes, I mostly enjoy extreme metal, but I also enjoy listening to other alternative genres like gothic, darkwave, some oldies rock and traditional metal. I guess it goes with the mood. I’m open to most genres, and so I listen to it as I feel it.

UV: Are there any other musical outlets that you currently participate in, or are there any plans for projects in the near future?

B: Yes there are. I recently got invited to start on a new project, but unfortunately I cannot mention about it at the time being, it will be surprising to some and I am personally thrilled and honored to have been included on this project, but since it is so early in the process, no announcements can be made at this point. My advice is to keep posted.

UV: I noticed while listening to your work, as well as you mentioning your inspiration from television, that much of it seems like it would be suited well for a soundtrack of some sort. Do you have any ambitions for creating music along the lines of filmscores or for something like video games, or is this a coincidence?

B: Absolutely! Being able to have my music available, not only in the music industry but also available in the film and TV industries is something I’m currently aiming my music to as well. I have now submitted material for licensing and the links can be searched on the official site, where TV and film producers can get a hold of my music.

Although I’m still fresh in this area, I’m very positive about it, and also something I’m interested in making. If there would be any opportunities, I would create filmscores also, but like I mentioned I’m still fresh. Nevertheless, it is something I’m aiming for. The process has started; now I have to let the wheels go now.

UV: With Poemia coming out in mid-February as homage to the works of Edgar Allan Poe, I read on your site that you plan on releasing a new album later this year entitled, "Eye of the Serpent." Can you reveal how you plan on approaching this one?

B: "Eye of the Serpent," the album, will be based on different stories, mostly inspired by serial killers and their methods. The album will be based on fictional events mostly and past stories, reliving them from nowadays, if you know what I mean. It will have a more direct and bizarre approach comparing to the other releases, while still keeping the ghostly elements.

It will be more atmospheric, based on different perspectives; both the victim’s feelings, the killer’s and the surroundings. "Eye of the Serpent" works as a metaphor to describe what goes on inside these psychopaths’ minds; the voices that tell them to do things; the evil inside every human, some with more than others.

The release date is still not worked out as compositions are in progress and it is still a long way to go, so we will see. I’m hoping to have it release later in the year if all goes well.

UV: What would you say are you goals for Immundus over time?

B: I normally don't have long term goals, mostly because there tends to always be bumps in the road which complicate things. As for now, I’m really busy working on the new album and the new project and looking for opportunities in the television and film industries. So the main goal is to keep inspired and create music. Overtime we will see, but I don't plan on stopping music making.

UV: Outside of music, what would you say is a typical day for Bruno and what other things interest you?

B: Typical day? Oh boy… nah… I don't know. I have my family to take care of and my day job, which keeps me busy very much. So, I try to be as good of a dad as I can. Apart from the family life there are always events, concerts or some parties I try to catch as much as I can. I did try ice skating the other day. One week later the right side of my body is still hurting with a couple of bruises. Sounds like a good typical day, yes? Plus I do enjoy going skiing.

UV: Would you like to add anything else for the readers?

Do you ever get the feeling of being watched? That feeling that someone is always there? Even when you are all alone?
Exploring that which haunts us, making the paranormal and the unknown tangible. Immundus brings forth these reflections, and leaves us to mirror our own stories through his music. Coming under a moniker that translates to ruin and impurity, the mind behind Immundus, Bruno Duarte, revealed his inspirations, influences, atmospheric changes and the narrative behind the concepts within his Dark Ambient music.

When did Immundus begin, and out of what did it come to life?

Duarte; Immundus began in late 2006, 3 years after the band where I played split up and also after moving to Norway in 2003. During these 3 years, the opportunity to start creating the music I had much interest in creating came along and so, all progress started and been developing until this day.

How did the name Immundus come to life, and what is its meaning?

Duarte; Immundus came to life sometime in the 90s as a pseudonym used on all music projects and after this ambient project was created I didn't see why not keep using it, not only as pseudonym but also the project‚Äôs name itself. The name itself means impure among others and in one way it reflects a bit of ourselves and what we are inside, even for those who do not admit these things, if anyone looks deep inside we‚Äôll always find it, no matter what. It is a sense of another type of reality, so to speak.

Immundus focuses on Haunting and Ghostly Atmospheres; what are your personal inspirations to convey these feelings?

Duarte; I get mostly inspired by the Paranormal, the Unknown, the mysterious side of life, different moods and the atmospheric changes in the daily environment, spiritual wise. ‚Ä¶And so to re-create those events and feelings by adding them into music.

What is the message you are sending through your music?

Duarte; I am not sending any message in particular, really, I write most of what I like and have interest in. I then like to share it with the world, because there are many people that can relate to all these themes, so it ends up also being a good experience not for them that can listen to an artist who writes music based on what the go through and feel, and for me knowing that my music can affect so many is also quite amazing.

How has your music changed from its beginning to this point in time?

Duarte; Like all in music, progress and evolution takes a big part, also in my music, you can listen since "Torments" until the latest release, the sound itself is getting better, quality and also the concepts on which these releases are based on. Also from composition techniques and possibility to experiment with new sounds and effects among others, all of this contributes to new changes. I can proudly say it has been a great progress and my music has been changing only for the better thus far and I hope it continues this way on my future releases.

Is Immundus looking in altering its direction, or do your changes come from pure instinct rather than force?

Duarte; Changes in direction, all come very naturally, I don't make it with intent, sometimes it just comes out the way it is. My music is ambient music, and ambient has many different ways of approach, I like to write mostly about haunting stories, but of course depending on the concepts I create, all things always change. I see it in a very good way; it means I don't repeat myself in each release, which is nice‚Ä¶to bring something fresh and new overtime.

Your latest release ‚The Method Learned II‚ opens with an ambient experimental‚ Decoy‚ and yet continues with pieces that hold pure sadness and solitude. Does this translate to your own views upon this world and society?

Duarte; No, not at all, this release was based solely on the Method Learned II, which is an ongoing project which involves, not only musicians, but also film and photography, all based on the written works of G. James Wyrick. These works attempt to highlight slices of the human experience, experiences that connect us together and that may serve as a catalyst for the sublime revelation of being alive to be realized. I had on this releases the opportunity to work along other great musicians such as Fredrik Klingwall, NauseA, Sphere-Sounds and InsCissorS. I‚Äôm hoping to have another opportunity like this one in the near future. [Method Learned II] Was a really great release which also has gotten very good reviews from the media as well as very positive feedback from the masses.

What music influences and/or inspires you?

Duarte; I am mostly inspired by dark ambient artists such as Lustmord, Northaunt, Nagual Art, Mortiis (era 1) also Vond‚Ä¶ among many other artists, but also other type of music can be very inspirational for what I create, either is ambient, experimental, noise, as well as gothic.

I believe that you are currently working on a new record, what has been the focus of its music thus far, and how is its progress?

Duarte; Yes I am currently working on a small free single release (3 songs) to kick start the year (hopefully) and will be based on Edgar A. Poe poems, on which one of the songs, "Spirits Of The Dead" will be submitted for a tribute compilation based on his poems as well. I will wait for the release of this compilation before I release my own single, which by the way, will be available for free. In the meantime I am also working on my next full-length album and is still too early on the progress, considering I spent the last few months promoting my Haunted Memories and The Method Learned II releases, only recently I started working on it, but I can tell you it has started great and is going very well so far. The album concept has been made and also the compositions are going really well.

What will be its title, and when are you planning on a release?

Duarte; The album will be entitled "Eye of the Serpent" but as far as it goes for a release date nothing is settled yet, since all the work just started. I still think it would be nice to have it release after the summer, but is still too soon to tell, so I guess we will just have to wait and see how it goes.

Tracks such as ‚Candles‚ off the album‚ Torments‚ create a very haunting atmosphere, a sense of unease and yet one becomes transfixed by this ambience. What horror themes are the inspirations behind this?

Duarte; "Torments" was an album based on afterlife experience, it is a story about two subjects, one here on our side of life and another who died but doesn't really know that. This album varies through feelings and follows the different paths of these subjects in both life and death, and how they face the challenges that are thrown upon them, in the end connecting all the pieces together.

Furthermore, this eeriness reminds one of being a child; scared, and alone in the dark, and yet these emotions tend to follow us into adulthood in varying light. Do you find that this has been the case for you also?

Duarte; It depends, as I wrote the concept and the story, something like this was actually not included, but like you asked, if it was my case‚Ä¶people who listen to my music, have their own perception and visions of my music, and I think is great the they keep on doing that and creating their own stories on their minds. I personally like that a lot, and when you mention it I can relate to it as well and very well know what you mean, but in my case ‚Äì it was actually a widow and not a child, nevertheless, it seems we‚Äôre not so apart after all. Sometimes, you might have exactly the same concept on your head and just changing the characters or events and yet, you stick to the concept as it was intended. Awesome you mentioned this!

Other atmospheres that Immundus brings to life are the feelings of darkness, coldness, and an aesthetic of a forest in winter. Does nature play a big part in your creations?

Duarte; Yes, it has played and will keep on playing a part in my music, since my music is based on atmospheric elements as well, nature will always be a part of it, depending on the concepts created in the music, sometimes these will be more noticed than others.

Do you find yourself in a meditative state as you write and perform your music?

Duarte; Yes and no. I do have a good relaxing almost meditative state, before I write music, almost as dreaming awake and create these stories or just feeling the environment around me‚Ä¶other times, I can just be watching something on TV, or eating‚Ä¶ doesn‚Äôt matter, and suddenly I have a great idea for a song for example, and of course - how inappropriate to come such sudden motivation and I cant do anything about it. I guess all goes up to my mind and what it is set up to. But no, I don't just feel like writing music and make it happen, doesn't work like that for me, I‚Äôve tried, yes and nothing came out from it besides a huge headache.

Do you possess spiritual beliefs, and if so how does this translate in your music?

Duarte; It doesn't. Like I have mentioned before on another prior interview, my music will never have a reflection on how I see the world, not political or religious points of views. I have them yes, but I won‚Äôt add them into music. There are already a million bands using these concepts, and what I create is mostly for self- reflection of the mind and with a very direct approach on what goes around us all the time. Mostly moods and the unseen subjects.

What process do you undergo when you write a new piece, or album? Do you stick to one theme through out as to tell a story?

Duarte; I normally create first the concept, start writing some pieces on acoustic guitar passing it then to keyboard, including also new sounds, effects and atmospheric elements surrounding it - but it doesn't really have to work in this direction all the time. It really depends what the mind is set to and how I can work with what I have. Right now, as I write for the new album, I‚Äôm not using guitar to compose at all, and rather experimenting much more with new sounds, effects, also using field recordings. I don't stick to one theme, what I do is normally create a concept, what kind of atmosphere I would like created, based on my daily experiences and then create a story based on that.

From the back catalogue of Immundus, what has been your favorite album and why?

Duarte; Well, I can say that I like them all of course, but "Haunted Memories" was the one I had more effort on composing, also the concept was great, from all this to final mastering and sound quality not to mention the artwork created by Depraved Designs, it all fitted just perfectly. There is nothing on this album I ever would want to change. This one is so far the most professional album I have released and to be honest, I am really proud of it.

What is the response to Immundus from its international audience, and also from your home of Trondheim in Norway?

Duarte; Internationally it has been great, I have people from all over [the world] viewing and /or listening to my music samples on MySpace as well as on the official site among many other places I am on, and their feedback has just been outstanding. I have recently joined Record Union as well for the digital releases and they have been great, I am really happy with the response I‚Äôm getting nowadays. Locally, is a bit harder, but I guess that is just how it works, you are more appreciated from others than from the place where you live. I guess this goes for most artists, but I‚Äôm very ok with it. I remember, when I lived in Portugal, many of the national bands didn't have much attention from their own country, then I moved to Norway and they are almost like icons here‚also, to be honest‚it is quite confusing but makes sense in a way.

What is the underground scene like in Trondheim?

Duarte; I think it is great here. Norway as a country and Trondheim as a town, the way I see it, they provide many possibilities for bands and artists to expose their music; bars, pubs, concert halls, I think people are very open minded to all kinds of music here, which is great. They even provide rehearsal places for the musicians to practice their music for great pricing. Where I lived in Portugal‚Ä¶ that kind of support you can only dream of.

What is your opinion on the ambient scene, it seems to be very intricate and "tight-knit"?

Duarte; I know also that Dark Ambient is getting more noticed here in Trondheim, more and more, considering the artists that come from here have also great international exposure, and it is great for this place. The person behind Svartsinn (Dark Ambient project) has been developing opportunities as well; for ambient artists to expose their music through life performances, locally and hopefully national, including not only local but also international artists, so things are greatly changing when it comes to this musical genre. We just have to see what the future has reserved to us, ambient artists. I am personally looking forward to this.

You are signed to Hypnotic Dirge Records ‚Äì which bands to you enjoy that are also signed to this label, and how is your relationship with Skog [owner]?

Duarte; I‚Äôm personally a big fan of Astral Luminous, I really like the way he approaches his music concept, based on inner self reflection, astrology subjects and other related, rather than the usual antichrist music and so on‚Ä¶.there are just too many bands which use the same [concept]. As I see it, this band is unique. As for HDR and Nick [Skog], I met Nick some years ago; I guess we started at the same time and have also been released under the same record label. But things didn't go so well with that and that is how Nick decided to create HDR, I think he did great and as far as I know he‚Äôs doing great with the label, climbing more and more‚Ä¶we have a good relationship as musician / label and a good friendship, so things are great on our side.

What has been the highest peak thus far in your musical career?

Duarte; The highest peak? Wow! That was difficult‚Ä¶I think I‚Äôm having it right now!!! This year has just been crazy with lots of things happening from signing to Hypnotic Dirge, having released both an album and an EP, getting new promoters and services helping to expose my music, and recently just signed up my music to The Peoples Music Awards, never really participated in anything, so I though‚Ä¶Why not? Now is better than never! So‚Ä¶I don't know‚Ä¶choose one! Including this interview!

Who is Immundus?

Immundus has been nothing but a pseudonym since my early teens on all the music project and bands I was involved with back from when I was 15 years old...nowadays it has become a part of me and therefore transformed into an ambient music project mainly based on haunting and ghostly atmospheres under this same name.

Did you think you would be involved in music when you were young?

Yes.. I always enjoyed music since I can remember, I started to listen to old Metallica, AC/DC, Pantera at a very young age and my interest in music has always been growing ever since. One day I decided I wanted to be like one of these guys, like many kids we all have this dream about what we want to be when we grow up, many want to be like firemen and police officers. I just wanted to Rock!

One of your early musical involvements was focused around Death/Black Metal. What made you choose Dark Ambient for your solo project?

Well...I always had a lot of ideas of my own to create something that was mine, but while living in Portugal my life was totally different from what I have now, so the opportunity was never there to create something on my own. It was great to play with the band I was in, but also I wanted to start something new of mine. I’m also a fan of Mortiis, Lustmord, Burzum, Northaunt and other ambient artists. They managed to create something on their own and that gave me some sort of inspiration to start. After I moved to Norway, my life was turned upside down so to speak and time consuming with the family and work. This actually gave me less time for playing in any band, but on the other hand was a good thing. So it was sometime in 2005 that I actually got the time I needed to start composing my own ideas and concepts and do what I was burning for a long time. Lacking time to play in band gave me actually time for my own solo project...ironic huh?

Are you inspired and supported by your family?

Inspired? I don’t think I can say inspired by them, but I do get full support from them yes.

What is your biggest source of inspiration for your musical work?

I get most inspired by those things we cannot see but we do feel. I’m attracted to the mysterious side of life, paranormal, ghostly presences and heavy atmospheres, in a more spiritual sense. Also these moods that sometimes have major impact on our daily lives, many are just too busy to be aware of...but do you ever get that feeling that someone is always there, when you don’t actually see it?

You just feel it and you can sense the whole atmosphere changing and getting heavier at times without understanding why the sudden change is happening?It’s mostly during these moments I get the most inspiration.

I'm clairaudient myself, so I know exactly what you mean. Have you had any bad paranormal experiences? Anything that has truly scared you?

I can’t really say I’ve ever been scared, but it did raise the hairs on the back of my neck that’s for sure! I have some stories, many involving family members so I’m not really comfortable talking about them openly. But I know what I have heard and things like the lights and TV have turned on and off by themselves just like that. I hear footsteps and voices too. I have a story but I can’t really share it with the readers.

You've been involved with music for most of your life, what has been your biggest challenge so far?

So far it’s been the release of Haunted Memories. From the compositions, losing files and re-recording the album twice, although I see a positive side on it: I managed to get the songs nailed even better than the first time. There were also financial issues for the release of the album; specifically the last one was my biggest concern and challenge. Luckily I entered a great deal with my current record label so it’s all good.

Your musical style certainly is defiant from everyday listening. Is it challenging to get new people to listen to your work?

Yes it was quite a challenge actually. When I first started this project and started showing it to the masses; dark ambient fans, they were not too fond of me calling my music dark ambient. Even though it has some elements of dark ambient style, it’s not quite the same thing. After releasing my music into Goth and metal communities many misunderstood the concept so it was a bit difficult to start with. That is, until I decided to create my own genre of Haunting and Ghostly Ambient music. Doing this means it doesn’t really matter the style you are into, if you like haunting and ghostly atmospheres, are into horror or suspense movies then it will still appeal to you. This really helped me move forward and get more listeners, and instead of reaching one community, anyone can actually enjoy without categorizing it into a specific theme.

I have received very good feedback on my music from fans of many genres of music, from classic and alternative, to electronic and metal...in the end we all have a bit of it in us, and everyone relates to it, one way or another

You have put a lot of effort into the artwork that accompanies your latest project "Haunted Memories". Do you think this is an important factor in your releases?

Absolutely, the cover normally should speak for the music even before you insert the disc in the player! After I created the album concept, I began collaborating with Depraved Designs to work on it and the outcome was outstanding! They got the concept exactly as I imagined, I was thrilled with how good the end result was. It was almost as if they read my thoughts and captured the music imagery perfectly. Like they say, a picture speaks for a thousand words. I’m personally not good on design so I see Depraved Designs as my right arm when it comes to creating art for Immundus music.

Any plans for Immundus in the future?

As for the moment, I’m planning a free EP to have it`s release really soon, featuring invited guests on each song, to name are: Fredrik Klingwall, NausA, InScissorS and Sphere-Sounds. This EP will be entitled "The Method Learned II" and is based on the written works of G. James Wyrick.

As for the rest of the year, there is still a single I expect to release in December. I also started creating the concept for a 3rd full-length with already a title "Through the eyes of a serpent" and will be starting to work on it this winter, hopefully getting it released in 2010. I have recently started a side-project with Sibyll Sewarte from Sphere-Sounds, with a more Classic/Darkwave approach, even though we just started it’s all going really well, so we’re looking forward to see how it goes, more info about this side-project will be available in a few months, so keep on the lookout about this one.

As you can see, there is always something going on!

What would you say your strong points are as a musician?

Patience? (Laughs) Well, music does take a lot of time; I care a lot about my family, so I cant really work at a fast pace. I would say patience is my strength, considering it also gives me time to think things over and experiment before I even start to write any music. I think it’s always good to take your time, sometimes people are just too eager to get something done and normally it doesn’t really come out so great if it’s rushed.

I see myself as a very open person minded when it comes to music, I listen to a lot of different music and it gives me the opportunity to include many different elements in what I produce.

Well it's been a pleasure interviewing you and hearing your answers. But fair's fair. Is there a question you want to ask me?

Well, you said you are a clairvoyant, would you care to share any experiences you have had?

It's very easy to get clairvoyancy and clairaudience mixed up, as they sound so similar in name. For those of you who are not up to speed on the world of the supernatural, being clairaudient is having exceptionally good hearing, (this would easily explain why music is such a large part of my lifestyle.) but it also means I can faintly hear the voices of those who are no longer with us. I'm not claiming I can hear the dead, it sounds more like a mass cacophony of whispers, but I do prefer not to stay around burial sites in silence for too long. It's not something I’ve trained to do; more the case of I decided to research the name for what I was dealing with. Occasionally while I’m walking alone at night I do indeed get the feeling that I’m not alone like you described earlier.

Any last words for our defiant readers?
