'Ancient Tundra', and EEE Recordings artist 'Old Forgotten Lands' team up to deliver this highly anticipated split album. Old Forgotten Lands contributes nature-influenced dark ambient music with well-executed field recordings, and dreamy, nostalgic synth tones that captures the essence of the natural world, whildst Ancient Tundra caries on its evolution towards a more neo-classical dark ambient hybrid with hints of film scores and sparse vocals to produce a highly atmospheric and visual sound. One of the best ambient releases of 2009, this album shows both artists continue to move forward and evolve into their most professional sound. Professionally mastered by Andrea Marutti at Lips Vago Studio in Milan, Italy and artwork from the highly regarded Niels Geybels of 'Depraved Designs' proves this to be an essential release for all dark ambient and atmospheric music fans. The Equinox is Upon us!

 THE PRESS

In conclusion, this split as a whole is worth purchasing. Both acts truly display great nature inspired dark ambient music, which sticks out from the rest. As mentioned earlier, OFLs personally music philosophy tends to follow that of Bob Dylan in ambient form, while AT tends to derive his ambiance from a classical inspiration. Both these ideologies may be different, yet both have a sense of progression and complement one another well enough to make a solid release.
-Matthew Caughlin

In all, this is the kind of release that is perfectly built for maintaining interest. The seemingly peaceful but mysterious poise of Old Forgotten Lands is shaken up by Ancient Tundra’s more patterned, developing style, to the benefit of both artists.
