ANNOUNCEMENT: Dysthymia to release upcoming record "The Morning Darkness" on Hypnotic ...

New England depressive black metal band, Dysthymia, was conceived in 2019 by members Grushenka Ødegård and Ray King. Releasing their self-titled debut full length in 2021 and a split with Saeva in 2024, the band crafts music which evokes despondency, isolation, and hopelessness.

The new record, entitlled "The Morning Darkness" will be jointly released by Hypnotic Dirge and Red Nebula in late summer 2026.

In the meantime, the track "Nothing Grows From You" from the debut album has been uploaded to the HDR Youtube Channel to introduce you to the project.

The full debut - as well as a limited edition vinyl and long-sleeve shirt - is available on the Dysthymia Bandcamp page.

More concrete news will follow in the weeks to come.

ALBUM RELEASE: Gomma (ڨمَّةْ) - Wailing and Madness (نواح و جنون)

Gomma (ڨمَّةْ) - meaning "manhole" in Arabic - is a one man project from Tunisia founded by Gh'ramm in 2024.

Eschewing the common western scales typical in Black Metal in favour of Arabic scales, motifs, and instrumentation, Gomma (ڨمَّةْ) succeeds in crafting a black metal record that is genuine and authentic, a mosaic of a traditional western genre with an uncompromising Arabic influence. Abrasive guitars form the underbelly of Gomma's music but rather than utilizing tremolo-picked melodies in standard western scales, the melodic aspect is instead carried by maqam modes, blending black metal with Arabic folk music.

"Wailing and Madness" is Gomma's second full-length album, released independently in November 2025 and now distributed through Hypnotic Dirge Records in collaboration with Black Metal Artists

ANNOUNCEMENT: Marea signs with Hypnotic Dirge Records for upcoming album

Marea — meaning "Tide" in Italian — is the one-man project of Matteo Balzarini from Legnano, in northern Italy. Marea delivers a haunting blend of atmospheric black metal, post-black, dsbm, and doom metal, interwoven with more intimate, dreamy passages featuring acoustic guitar and post-rock sections.

Marea uses these different musical styles to try to convey different feelings, from nostalgia to anguish, from hope to despair and transport the listeners on an introspective and emotional sonic journey, using music as a means to paint this landscape of contrasting moods.

The first album, "The Silence of Rust", was released through Masked Dead Records in 2024, followed in 2025 by the EP "Adrift”.

This autumn, Hypnotic Dirge Records and Masked Dead Records will jointly release the second full-length album.

UPCOMING RELEASE: Escaping Aghartha - Lurkers of Languid Waters

It is sadly an indisputable fact that we are living through the Holocene extinction - the sixth mass extinction in the history of earth, and one caused entirely by humans. Current extinction rates persist at 100-1000 times higher than background extinction rates due to anthropogenic climate change, deforestation, ocean acidification, and displacement of wildlife from their natural habitats.

Escaping Aghartha is a blackened doom metal project drawing attention to this unfortunate reality. In May, Hypnotic Dirge Records will be releasing their latest record - "Lurkers of Languid Waters" the ninth album from this project and first since January 2024.

Based in North Carolina, USA, Escaping Aghartha was founded by Avery Dart in 2015. Avery, a Conservation Biologist with a Master of Science degree, started Escaping Aghartha as a solo experimental project, before being joined by CJ Yacoub on Drums and Anghatengh (Marco Pansa) providing backing vocals in 2020.

The goal of Escaping Aghartha is to educate people about specific examples of the ongoing destruction in the biological world, using extreme music as an educational tool. In this age of extinction, in which species are going extinct at such a rapid rate, Avery firmly believes humanity has a moral imperative to act on extinction. Not only do species have a fundamental right to exist, but humanity also depends on a healthy ecosystem for survival - it is in our best interest to conserve nature. If we fail to act, future generations will curse us for the biologically-impoverished, degraded, and highly polluted world we leave them.

For many of Escaping Aghartha's releases, 100% of profits within the first month of release were donated to help conservation efforts related to the album theme. For example, in 2022, the album "Croak", themed around the ongoing extinction of amphibians, donated all profits to the International Union of the Conservation of Nature's Amphibian Specialist Group.

On this upcoming record "Lurkers of Languid Waters", donations will be directed to conservation efforts to help anguillid eels, including the American, European, and Japanese eel

"Lurkers of Languid Waters" will first be released on CD/Digital format on May 22, 2026 with plans for a DLP later this year!

Unfolding like a transmission from the cosmos, discordant guitars clash against ethereal droning synth and authentic samples taken from the Apollo 11 MOCR ACR Collection to craft an immersive atmosphere simultaneously unnerving and transcendent. Hypnotic Dirge Records will release the new album from Swiss project Conjuring on May 8.

Conjuring is a one-man Atmospheric Black Metal project founded by Alvar. Blending melancholic tremolo passages, immersive atmospheres, and dynamic songwriting - balancing fragility and intensity - the sound draws inspiration from vast landscapes, shifting seasons, fading light, and the quiet presence of ancient spirits.

The upcoming album, "Memento Mori", marks Conjuring’s most mature work to date. Across six carefully crafted compositions, the record explores mortality, transience, and spiritual awakening - embracing darkness and reverence as intertwined forces of existence.

Mixed and mastered at Klangschmiede Studio E, the album captures clarity while preserving raw emotional depth and atmosphere. Conjuring stands as a reflection of devotion — to Black Metal, to nature, and to the eternal cycle of life and death.

"An Abscess on the Heart of the State" was originally self-released by Tumultuous Ruin and then later on cassette by Fiadh Productions & Vita Detestabilis Records in 2023.
