As always, HDR releases an album from a band that defies simple explanation. Ekove Efrits, a band I’ve been a fan of since they were first presented by HDR a few years ago, has dropped another atmospheric bomb on the world. It isn’t very different from what has been done by Ekove Efrits in the past, but it brings even more post black metal and doom elements into the mix, as well as some nice EBM and trip-hop. Amazing female vocals from Megan Tassaker (Lycanthia) are brought in, and damn if this doesn’t make me want to just relax, in a rather uneasy way.
Fans of previous Ekove Efrits works will no doubt find an easy in with Nowhere. People into fellow Hypnotic Dirge Records artist Netra, My Dying Bride, Katatonia, Alcest, etc, should also find this a great listen. My favourite song is “Parallel Presence”.
