Apocalyptic music for apocalyptic times.

The first clip from Forlesen's upcoming album "Hierophant Violent" is now online and streaming below:

This is an abridged version of the track "Nightbridge" the full version of which is 18 minutes and will be released alongside the full album on April 18.

Of course, it is difficult to get the full sense of a track from an excerpt but we wanted to make a clip publicly available so we partnered with Wikked Twist Films to craft some visuals for the album.

We are also excited to be launching pre-orders for this album today! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertainly of these times, our release schedule and ability to ship orders have been affected, but with that said, all of the items for the Forlesen release have either already arrived here or is well on its way and should arrive here within the next week or two, so we're pushing ahead with this release as planned.

The release bundle we are releasing with this album has been carefully crafted and includes some items we typically don't include in merch bundles. Despite the higher production price, we have kept the price for the bundle the same as usual! Included in the bundle are the "Hierophant Violent" CD in a 6 panel digipack with a SpotUV effect on the disc to really highlight the art, a shirt with front, back, and sleeve prints featuring an edited version of the cover art by Benjamin A. Vierling, a printed 10cm patch with merrowed edges, a circular holographic sticker, and a 10cm x 5cm postcard flyer. We will publish photos of the individual merch items as they arrive!

The digital version of the album is available on the HDR Bandcamp page for a token pre-order price. It will of course be available as a name-your-price download upon the release date. Other streaming options such as Youtube, Spotify, iTunes, etc will be available once the album is released as well.

Notes:

Comprising of two tracks nearing twenty minutes a piece, “Hierophant Violent” is a delicate and hypnotic sensory experience incorporating a myriad of styles and influences to craft a work of art which is cathartic and illuminating. Each track is a journey unfolding different aspects of the band’s sound, drawing inspiration from artists as diverse as Low, Leviathan, Skepticism and Dead Can Dance.

As the band states: Forlesen's "Hierophant Violent" is an immersive, lush, psychedelic blend of dark ambient, epic doom, slowcore and shadowy black metal. It was conceived during a time of immense personal loss and emerged as something both beautiful and terrifying to us. We hope it will give the same feelings of shadow exploration to our Listeners.

Featuring members of Lotus Thief, Botanist, and Kayo Dot among others, “Hierophant Violent” is a brilliant debut from a cadre of musicians already in top form who have lent their efforts to a new vision. Appropriately transfixing artwork by Benjamin A. Vierling (Aosoth, The Ajna Offensive, Joanna Newsom) will adorn this album, which will be presented as a 6 panel digipack.

The album was engineered, mixed and mastered by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Oathbreaker, Mamaleek) at the Atomic Garden with additional recording by Forlesen.

“Hierophant Violent” will be released through Hypnotic Dirge Records on April 18, 2020.
